I used to be quite athletic as a young girl, it just came naturally. But then something changed and I forgot the joy of exercising my body and became a sedentary slob for the next 30 odd years. It's mostly by chance (and maybe coming from good peasant stock) that I've arrived here more or less intact and am able to rediscover the pleasure of moving my body around again.
If you're interested click on the link to see the heady heights I reached in my schoolgirl sports career. Don't be fooled by the innocent face as I spent most weekends frequenting seedy pubs, swilling vodka and lime and smoking like a trooper, oh and boys.
So what finally motivated me? I'd have to say fear…it's always been an excellent motivator for me. I fear becoming decrepit. I don't mind getting older but I'd like to be old and fit. Anyway, going on this walk is one of the things I'm doing to avoid decrepitude for as long as possible.
